[He pulled his hair back and quickly tied it up with a ribbon before sitting on the edge of the bed beside Rinoa, some fresh bandages and ointment on the dresser beside them. He quickly took off the old bandage and put on the ointment, happy to see that her wound was mostly healed, though it looked as if it may scar if she kept holding out on her magic.
Not that Ukitake minded. He had some scars of his own that he told Unohana not to heal completely. But Ukitake felt a responsibility to protect her and seeing scars on her lovely skin felt wrong to him.
Soon enough he had her bandaged up again. Hopefully this would be one of the last times he'd need to do it. But as he sat there, he couldn't help but admire the unharmed portions of her back. Rinoa was beautiful, Ukitake couldn't deny that, and she deserved to be made aware of it.
So, without any explanation, he leaned over her and placed a gentle kiss to the top of her back.]
