Cough 071 - [Accidental video]
[The PCD turns on, showing Ukitake outside of his home, a bandanna tied around his face to protect his nose and mouth and his hair pulled back. He's sweeping, ash and other lighter debris swirling up where he works. More than once he has to turn away to keep it from getting into his eyes. But it's only in the near distance that he has to do this. There is a defined line where the destruction meets grass, as if a boundary had been made and held throughout the entire ordeal. And that's exactly what had happened.
Ukitake sweeps a little more, pausing every now and then to move some bigger pieces of debris out of the way. Then he finally stops and surveys his work before walking back toward the house, where he sees the PCD recording.
He doesn't greet the feed with a smile like he usually does, but he doesn't look terribly sad, either. He's just tired, dark shadows under his eyes making this evident, along with the blankness of his expression.
Pulling the bandanna down to reveal his face (and his "tan line" from the ash), he addresses the network.]
Where else can I help?
[There are no words of advice, no condemnations, just that question.]

Is there someone leading this clean up? If not... how good are you at inspecting the structural strength of buildings?

I haven't heard of anyone taking the reins.
I'm also not trained in such an area, but I like to think I have a good eye. I could give an honest opinion based on common sense, but I'd feel more comfortable if someone else could back me up, of course.

Figures. All this lofty talk of government and when we really need leadership, it disappears.
-=Clearly, this is a sign that Mandrake's crap isn't going to fly here.=-
Alright. I'll join you. That way if something's decent, I can help reinforce it.

That sounds like a good plan.

This is a serious mess.

[He lets out a breath.]
And it needs cleaning.

The plan is to fix up what will take the least amount of effort. We need shelter for people. Then others can go and salvage supplies, medications and whatnot. Then food.
-=How the hell are these people going to survive the winter?=-

[At least the snow is gone. And the ground will be warm enough that any falling snow will melt for some time.
Which is something.]

My friend Rachel suggested a food drive so I asked her to head that off.
-=The only problem is that snow could have been used to provide water.=-
