[This week sees Ukitake in battle mode...at least when it comes to the snowball fight. This is serious business, after all, folks. He has hair pulled back in a ponytail once again, his hair tied with his red scarf. Yes, he's announcing his team affiliation, but he has faith in himself that he can take anything you people throw at him.]

I wonder if the Animus have anything nastier up their sleeves after this. This almost seems too carefree for them.

[He shakes his head and grins.]

But until then, let's enjoy this! We all need to unwind, I think.

I have received word from Hitsugaya-taichou that a new arrival by the name of Riddle has the potential to be as dangerous as Aizen. He is not to be trusted, but if you must come into contact with him, I beg you to be careful.

Nightmares can be harmful, even after a time. They wear you down, make you question yourself, doubt yourself.

I know how to deal with them. I'll manage. *If he says it enough times, maybe one day he'll believe, it, too.*

Waking up multiple times a night isn't managing.

They're not gonna kill me. I've had nightmares since I was twelve, I can put up with a few more.

Just because you can doesn't mean you have to.

The only medicine that helps doesn't let me rest, either.

...You bottle things up, Jr.-san. I can feel how tense you are, how keeping everything to yourself only makes things worse. You're not alone, here. You have friends who won't judge you, who will listen to anything you have to say.

It's because of my own mistakes. Nobody else should have to suffer for it.

No one will suffer if they offer themselves as a friend, nor will they suffer if you help yourself get over this, even just a little.

They're my mistakes to deal with.

We all have mistakes in our past with which we must to come to terms. You're not alone.

[Nodding, Ukitake grabs a blanket and makes his way out of the house before flash-stepping to the roof beside Jr.]

You really like it up here.

*He's sitting in a clear, dry spot and has a small fireball floating between his hands.* I like being high up.

[Ukitake wipes off some of the snow with a hand and sits on one part of the blanket before wrapping the rest of it around himself.]

We have a good view.

Yeah.

[He's quiet for a while, waiting for Jr. to say anything, but if he doesn't, he decides he'll speak up.]

*He doesn't speak for a while, just huddling over his fire. He doesn't even look up from it when he does speak.* I'm supposed to be a leader, someone people can look up to. But I can't do a damn thing to help the people here. I couldn't stop that demon, I couldn't stop Rhode, I couldn't even protect myself from her and let Albedo suffer because of it. And when Aizen attacked...I didn't do a damn thing because I didn't give a crap about anything but my missions and the URTVs when I was younger!

*As his temper flares near the end, he fireball also gets bigger and less controlled.*

[Ukitake listens, letting him get everything out without interrupting him. But when that fireball gets bigger, he sends gentle waves of his reiatsu toward Jr., hoping to calm him down.]

None of us can save everyone. You're not the world's savior, even if it would make you feel better if you could do such a thing. Part of life is accepting our faults and moving on, not being dragged down with them.

But I haven't been able to save anyone! Nothing I've done has made a damn bit of difference!

So you would give up? Not continue becoming stronger, not fighting for what is right?

Of course not! That's why I'm sparring with so many people...but no matter how much stronger I get, I still can't touch the Animus. I can't stop them from messing with our heads and I can't stop them from taking people away and making them forget. *And now the fireball shrinks, even smaller than it was before.*

[Ukitake gently squeezes Jr.'s shoulder.]

None of us can touch the Animus. None of us can keep people from leaving or forgetting. You're not alone in this.
